Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II
Review by AMuscarella
"This is one helluva game"
Well, I'd to start by saying, this is one of the coolest games i have played. And I have played ALOT of games. What makes it so much fun is how hard it is. It gets tough, really quick. Like, for instance, mission #5, Razor Rendezvous. You got to stop this star destroyer, and omg its tough. But its realistic to the movie in so many ways. Its not like its firing 2 laser beams at you and saying, ''Oh, please kill me.'' No, its saying, ''Who are you to me. Now u die.'' and fires hundreds of lasers at you at once, from everywhere. Its a blast running around it trying to destroy those famous shield generators that every star destroyer ever seems to have a problem with... lol. But seriously, this game is so awesome. If you got a gamecube, pick this game up. You won't be disappointed. The tutorial Tatooine level will help you out to, cause the first mission even starts to pick up the difficulty. The next thing you wanna note is how you can unlock levels on top of levels you have already completed. example: firing your way through the asteriods while your escaping the planet Hoth. classic. Or escaping the death star. This game never stops the nostalgia of classic moments from episodes 4,5,6.
Graphics:10 You will think, whats PS2, and trust me, you will. I own a PS2 and I do enjoy it, but the graphics in this game are SUPERB. The effects of your weapons and explosions are great, and the cutscenes are unlike any thing you have seen in a video game. Coolest thing is the wave effect seen around your missiles that you fire. Definitely cool stuff.
Gameplay: 9 Sometimes, you may get frustrated with this game. Some people like the difficulty, some don't. It plays great, and is a blast when you get into it. Just don't break the gamecube controller, its only a game ;). The fact you have to be mindful of everything in this game is key. This is especially true if you want to get those medals so that you can unlock the secret stuff, which is hear is plenty of goodness in those.
Sound: 10 All the classic Star Wars music, all the great sound effects that make it seem like your there, and the inclusion of the ability for surround logic 5 sound (or whatever they call it that makes it like beyond real) makes this game have some of the coolest sound effects you've ever heard.
Replay Value: 10 You will be playing this game til you drop to find all the great hidden goodies they have packed in here for you. Be it secret missions, hidden ships (Falcon, Slave 1....), or just good ol' upgrades, you will keep coming back for more. Now if only theyd add some kinda 2-4 player dog fighting.......
