Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II
Review by ATadeo
"I thought the first one was great. This game is just way better!"
Before, everyone was stunned as to how Factor 5 brought about one of the best games bearing the mark Star Wars through Star Wars: Rouge Squadron for the PC/N64. This time, Factor 5 brings about new realism and in-depth play with the new Star Wars: Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron 2. It's been deemed as the best Gamecube game out there. I do believe that. And why you ask? Here goes.
Gameplay/Controls (10): Ever since the time of the X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, everyone wondered what it would bring about in the future. Well, this is the future. The fantastic and extremely enjoyable battles in this game is more than enough to keep you playing for hours. You'll be piloting the infamous ships from the movie and you'll engage in several different missions. You'll be able to unlock several ships and more missions as you progress through the game.
For the controls, it's very easy to move around and engage in dog fights. Another plus is that the controls are well-mapped for the GC controller. You'll just have to get used to it if you just came from the likes of the PS/PS2 controllers.
Storyline (8): Although the game concentrates mainly on the gameplay, the storyline is based on the actual story from the Star Wars movies. You'll be battling the Death Star and go to different places in the movie and do battle there. This game is included in the games where it actually makes you feel that you yourself is in the story.
Graphics/Sounds (10): If only there is a score more than 10, I'll rate it more. The game literally pushes the limits of the console and the result is, an in-depth eye candy that no other star wars (or almost any game for that matter) game have ever produced. The ships are very much like the same as the one used in the movie. The environments are well-detailed and every graphic aspect is gorgeous. As for the sound, this is surely one of those games that gives the game life through ear-drum banging sound effects. You'll clearly hear those lasers coming from the ships.
Re-play Value (10): Replay value doesn't only mean goodies you'll get after going through the game for the first time. This means that you should still be enjoying the game on your second time through it. Well, this game sure is enjoyable even if you play it n times.
As a conclusion, if you have a gamecube and you're still thinking of buying this awesome game, I definitely recommend it. You won't waste your time and effort. It is the best GC game around.
