Indigo Prophecy

Review by ClementJ64

"It's an interactive movie...and a great one as well."

Warning...this game may teach you how to get away with murder. Unless you suck. This is an interactive gem of a video game which I highly recommend to people. This is Indigo Prophecy, a literal interactive movie that revolves around a man and 2 detectives.

STORY
Lucas Kane was eating at a diner...then for some reason he kills a man in the restroom. Can't blame the guy it happens to me all the time. The thing is, he didn't do it. He was possessed by some supernatural force. On the run for murder and being chased by two detectives, he's out to find out what happened to him. And believe me, it's a lot bigger than he would've thought. Just like this game to me.

GRAPHICS
The graphics are very nice. Now they aren't as good as say Resident Evil 4, but for the amount of locations you go to, and the animations in the game, it looks spectacular! Awesome camera movements, I love the way a second window will open up in gameplay to show you what's happening in the other rooms. It looks awesome. And I love the action scenes, they're so over the top and ridiculous they put the Matrix to shame. And that's not a bad thing. Well directed and has an eerie, somewhat beautiful look to call it's own.

SOUND
It sounds as good as it looks too, so that's awesome. A good selection of licensed songs and perfect voice acting. I didn't hate any of the voices in this game, which is really rare for me! The music is great, the ambiance is great, and it just gives you the feeling of a murder/mystery type movie.

GAMEPLAY
Now the gameplay...it's not for everyone, but let me tell you I loved it. Like I said before it's an interactive movie. Unlike a movie, you choose how the characters react to situations and decide what they'll say or do next. The opening is the perfect example of how the game can be different everytime you play. You start off in the bathroom, after killing the man. You can do so many things at this point. You can run out with blood all over you and run away, scaring everyone in the diner. You can try and hide the weapon, you could hide the body, you could clean the blood off of yourself. It's so rare in a video game you're actually thinking in terms of reality. What would I do if I killed a guy? I know, I'll hide the body!

You also play the detectives and you're solving the murder that you committed...and I love the attention to detail when they're talking about elements of the murder that you as a gamer did. There are always multiple paths to every scene. The game's story is good too, so I got really into it. So where's the game part of it? Well you move the character around the environments, and then comes the occasional action scene. Many times you'll play Simon Says with the analog sticks, in which you have to push them in the right direction to dodge any dangers coming for you. You also have to keep the character's mood up, otherwise they may kill themselves or quit the force, hence ending the game. You bring up your mood by doing simple tasks like drinking whiskey (a favourite) or by simply playing a few notes on your guitar.

I just love how everything is interactive. You can even pee in the toilets, as the detective, with you're partner there! And she'll yell at you for doing it! There are tiny faults however. The controls can get annoying at times, especially when you have time limits to do stuff. The game doesn't let you skip cutscenes, and that really ticked me off in places. But that's all I can complain about.

IN THE END..,
Technically it's not much of a "game". But even still this is some interactive entertainment I fell in love with. I wanna see more of this. I highly recommend you check it out. It has an engaging story, multiple pathways, and some of the coolest action scenes since The Matrix. I love this game, you should too.
