.hack//G.U. vol. 2//Reminisce

Review by CRtwenty

"If you enjoyed Rebirth, you'll enjoy Reminisce"

.hack//Reminisce. The second part of the .hack//G.U. game series has been released at last. But, how does it play? And how does it compare to the first part of the G.U. series .hack//Rebirth?

Gameplay 9/10 - There's one undeniable fact about Reminisce. It's fun to play. The response and camera are great, the controls are straightforward and easy to understand, and the battle system is easy to learn, yet has enough action to keep you entertained. Even more advanced things like Combo Attacks, or weapon switching is easily learned and used. Mini-games like the Crimson Vs. Card Game, and the Bike Races offer a fun diversion from the regular gameplay, making Reminisce a very entertaining game. However, dungeons can become repetitive, and while Reminisce does offer a few more choices than Rebirth, you'll soon get sick of hunting for symbol fragments in the same wasteland over and over.

Story 10/10 - The storyline is where Reminisce really shines. While Rebirth's plotline may have moved a bit sluggish at times. Reminisce keeps the plot moving until the very end. A large cast of well developed characters only enhances the story.

Graphics/Sound 8/10 - With great voice acting, and well orchestrated music Reminisce is an fun to hear, as it is to play. However, certain tracks are a little too short, especially in towns. And considering how often you visit those places, you'll soon get sick of hearing the same town theme over and over.

Play Time/Replayability 6/10 - Play time has always been one of the downsides of the .hack series. And Reminisce is no exception. Despite it's fun, Reminisce is a fairly quick play. And with its cliffhanger ending you'll find yourself wanting to play the next game in the series, rather then replaying Reminisce.

Final Recommendation - If you're a .hack fan, and enjoyed Rebirth then this game is a must-have item. However if you don't fit either of those categories, or haven't played Rebirth then I'd recommend looking for a different game. While Reminisce is fun, it's definitely not for everyone.
