Trapt

Review by the_reborn_soul

"I may be one of the few guys who will do more than drool at this game"

I first saw this game on.....X-Play, I think. G4 Tech TV. Anyway, it looked interesting. A couple months ago, I saw it for 14 bucks and bought it, along with two others. I hear that this is part of a series, but I haven't played those, so I'll just talk about this one, shall I?

GRAPHICS: 9/10

The graphics go with such a dark game. There's some very dark things. However, the animations for the traps are done well. However, one comment....the costumes. Who created them, a kid going through puberty?

I swear, I am probably the only man I know who is straight who can actually play through this thing. The costumes for the girls are so skimpy that it's almost not worth it for them to wear anything. Other than than, though, love the graphics.

SOUND/MUSIC: 7/10

I liked the music. Again, it goes with the setting and is just beautiful. The beautiful sounds of people falling prey to the traps is done......I'll just stop here before I get dragged away by the nice young men in the clean white coats.

I have one objection. There's no dubbing. I personally like Japanese. I find it to be a very beautiful language. But my sentiment is not shared by most of the population. Dubbing would have been nice only because most Americans I know hate subtitles.

GAMEPLAY: 10/10

The game is fun the first few times around. The game is pretty much just Princess Alura getting chased around a few different buildings by enemies. You, as Alura, set up traps to defeat your enemies.

The traps have different properties and some enemies can defeat your traps, so there' some strategy involved. You can also create different traps, adding a tad of verity.

STORY: 8/10

You are Princess Alura, scantily-clad princess of a failing kingdom. Your father is killed, your witchy stepmom blames it on you, and you're forced to take up with a fiend to save yourself.

What I really like about this game is those occasional points where you can choose what to do, changing the storyline. However, the storyline as a whole is very dark. This game is only recommended to adults.

REPLAYABILITY: 7/10

A few different traps are unlocked with different endings, and you can only finish it 100% by playing through a few times. After a while, it gets boring.

Overall, I liked Trapt. It's an interesting, unique game. However, I would recommend keeping this away from most teenage boys. It's for your own good, believe me.
