Gadget Racers

Review by wolverinefan

"Simple yet fun racer"

Story
It's a racing game so there isn't a story. I give story a 0/10

Control
Cars control differently depending on what kind of parts you have but most of the time the control is great. Sometimes the control goes wacko and your car starts spinning around when you're going straight on a straight part of the track. Sometimes the control is unresponsive which can also get annoying, I give control a 6/10

Voice Acting, Sound Effects and Music
There isn't any voice acting. The sound effects are VERY annoying. The sound of the engines are very annoying and they don't even sound like a normal car engine. The music fits the stages but it just seems silly. The songs get old very fast. I give voice acting, sound effects and music a 4/10

Game play
The box of the game says something about 97 tracks, over 100 cars and 120 parts. This is a HUGE mistake cause there is about 25 total tracks and each has 2 slightly different versions. The tracks are designed rather well but some are way too long and seem to take forever to beat while others are really short. Some tracks have short cuts and different paths which adds a little something to them but you just need to find one shortcut and you will almost always win. Some tracks can only be won if you have certain parts on your car which adds some depth to the game play. Choosing the right parts can be pretty hard cause some parts boost your cars stats but they don't say but most parts say how they boost your stats. You can also get 'new' cars but all you really get is a new body to put on the car which might raise or drop your stats and you never know. There are plenty of modes to play in and some require special parts or cars which makes you save old parts instead of selling them off. Overall the game play is really good and it's really addictive but since it's addictive you should be able to unlock everything in a weekend. I give game play a 10/10

Replay Value
This game can last a long time if you're into the whole collecting every car thing and if you like trying to figure out how to build the best car. The game does last a pretty long time if you just want to beat all the modes. There is also some decent multiplayer games which I've never seen in any other game, like pinball survival which kinda has you inside a pinball machine and the last car left inside wins. I give replay value a 7/10

Final Score
I give Gadget Racers a 7/10
