Advance Wars

Review by Bomook

"It's a handheld war!!"

Gameplay - 10:

My gosh!! I never thought a handheld game could be so fun!! Once I started playing, I couldn't stop. Sometimes I kept playing until 1:00 AM the next day!

Story - 8:

Orange Star is attacked by Blue Moon, and you must help reclaim the land. In the beginning, though, the story will seem really dry. Later, it'll all unravel, but that's about all I can say without spoiling. The storyline for this game isn't that great but the fun more than makes up for the story.

Graphics and Sound - 9:

The graphics are really good, especially in the battle scenes. They're so spellbinding at first, but later, though the visuals get repetetive and I disabled them. The Overall, though, the graphics were still really nice. The music for this game is great, it's just too bad the only songs are the CO themes and the main menu song. Still though, the songs themselves are great. It's also great listening to your own units blasting the hell out of the enemy!!

Replayability - 10:

After you beat some strategy games, you'd just want to drop your GBA and never play it again. With Advance Wars it's different. You can keep playing even after you beat the campaign mode, which includes more missions than you think. There's Battlemaps, where you can cash in your Advance Wars coins to buy more maps to fight on! And it's always fun to play some maps over and over.

Multiplayer - 9999999:

The best thing about Advance Wars is its multiplayer. You don't need separate Game Boy Advance consoles to have fun playing with each other. Since it turn based, you can play with 4 people on one game boy if you wanted. Though, it can sometimes be difficult to notice everthing that happens with four people playing at once, it still is VERY fun. It's really addicting to play with a lot of people, and you won't wnat to stop; it's just one battle after another. If you even beat all of the battlemaps, just play with your friends. It's insane fun!

Buy or rent?

BUY BUY BUY!! This game is really a great deal at only $30. It's nearly impossible to finish ALL of the maps and getting all of the COs takes a lot of work, too; so you'll definately get more than $30 of fun out of this game.
